PVW, based in the Maryland/
Virginia/D.C. area, is a juried society of watercolor painters
We are a nonprofit organization that seeks to promote the art and excellence of watercolor painting. Our members include many watercolor instructors who teach at all levels, and artists who exhibit at prominent galleries, museums and in nationally acclaimed shows. Some serve as jurors; others give demonstrations and programs for art and community groups.

PVW is delighted to announce the release of our first book!
Honoring our upcoming 40th anniversary, the publication is filled with striking images of members' work along with descriptions of each artist's process.

Book sales will begin after distribution to our members has been completed. Watch this space for more information.

August 2013 Featured Artist: Pat Porter

Pat Porter says, "I am fortunate to have art as a part of my life and to use my art to capture moments in time that, for me, evoke special memories. I  want my paintings to tell a story - if I have a  connection with the subject matter it often turns out that others will as well.  While I  mainly do figurative paintings, I also enjoy painting the occasional landscape and still life. I especially love painting people in every day settings. With everything I paint, I try my best to capture the same emotion that I associate with the particular subject or scene.  I love the challenges of working in watercolor - the balance between trying to impose control and then letting go and enjoying the spontaneity of the medium.
