PVW is again holding a two-day show and sale at St. Andrew's Church, and encourages all members to consider participating. Over the four years it has been held, this show has established a reputation among people interested in seeing and owning watercolor paintings. The exhibit differs from the usual PVW shows in that it lasts only two days, is entirely artist-run and organized, and offers each participant the opportunity to exhibit a substantial body of work. Each participating member pays $30 toward the expense of renting the hall, printing the invitations, and providing refreshments. They also are responsible for mailing their own invitations, hanging their own work, and staffing the sales desk and the refreshment table. There will be no commissions. Last year's sales totaled more than $8600. Thirty artists participated and 19 of them sold work. Over the years, most of the sales involved shrink-wrapped pieces in the lower price ranges (under $100), but there also have been a good number of paintings selling in the $600 range and up. Further sales have also resulted afterwards through contacts made at the exhibit.

This year, in a departure from previous shows, we will have a judging of participant's work. Each participant may select one work for judging. These self-selected works will be suitably identified and specially located in the hall for the purposes of judging. The judge will make selections during the hour just prior to opening at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The prize schedule will be as follows: First place: $75; Second place $40; Honorable mention (3), $10 gift certificates from the Art League Store. Awards will be made at about 5 p.m. on Saturday.

There will be space for up to 40 participants. Each artist may hand 3 framed full, half, or quarter sheet pieces, and a 4th framed piece may be shown if you provide your own easel. Notecard prints may also be displayed for sale. NOTE: "Prints" other than notecards will not be permitted in the show. Only original water media under glass/Plexiglas or shrink-wrapped please. An unlimited number of shrink-wrapped matted pieces may be offered in the "bins" which will be set up. You are welcome to bring your own bin rack(s). Artists are strongly encouraged to bring a copy of a resume to be included in the Show Artists Biography Notebook, which will make it easy for potential patrons to get in touch with artists they are interested in. Each artist in the show will be provided with an 8 1/2 x 11 transparent sleeve (front and back) in the notebook for biography and publicity material.

Participants will receive 25 show announcements about one month before the show. If you need more than 25 or can use less, please so indicate. Included in that mailing will be a sample inventory sheet which should be completed and submitted at sign-in on Saturday.

We need help setting up the Hall on Saturday Morning starting at 9:30 a.m. This involves physically demanding tasks such as moving risers, tables, chairs and display panels. If you are among the first five who send in the reply form indicating a willingness to help set up, you will get to select your spots to hang your work and to place your bin(s) during the period from 10:30 to 11:00 in advance of the rest of the participants.
